Recently, I have seen a water purifier that has ozone sterilization function on the market. Can the water after ozone sterilization be directly consumed?

Ozone (O3) is composed of three oxygen atoms and is a strong oxidant. It has the functions of instant disinfection and sterilization, and the sterilization rate can reach 99%.

   Ozone disinfection has the following characteristics

      (1) High-efficiency ozone disinfection does not require any other auxiliary materials and additives. The ozone-treated water is called “ozone water” and is oxidizing, but the nature of ozone is very active and unstable. It is converted into oxygen in water for a few minutes. Therefore, the ozone-treated water is left for 15 minutes before drinking. It is safe.

In addition, the ozone-containing water directly contacted by the human body can be drunk if the ozone concentration is generally not more than 0.2 mg/m3, and is harmless to the human body.
